We thought for one of our first posts we would share our employee profiles. Well, we say employees. Mostly their work involves getting petted and being fed. But they are popular with our guests and have received many mentions in reviews, so we thought we should tell you all a bit about them. We have six total: 3 dogs and 3 cats.
First up, we have our most popular workers. Tess and Molly have been mentioned in many of our reviews. We got them together from the same litter when they were puppies. Molly and Tess are Border Collies and are now 13 years old. They love to spend time with the guests and often you might find them outside your door waiting for pets in the morning. Every guest believes that they have been specially chosen by these sweet puppers, but truthfully, they just love everyone.
Why lie? Gus is our favorite. We got him in 2015 just before our daughter left for college, and honestly, he has completely replaced her. Gus is a toy Australian Shepherd. Despite his tiny size, he is certain that he is a fearsome guard dog. He has yet to strike fear into anyone’s heart, but he keeps trying.
Peanut (a.k.a. Gatto), age 6, is certainly our most majestic animal, however he is also the least intelligent. A few years ago he was kicked in the head by a horse, shattering his jaw. Luckily he healed perfectly, aside from being slightly cross-eyed and losing a couple of IQ points. He’s very sweet but a bit shy, so you might see him skulking about or leaping through the grass, but he doesn’t bother the guests much.
Turtle joined us in 2014 when we fostered a litter of 7 kittens for Heart of the Valley animal shelter. Unsurprisingly, we came away one kitten richer. She was the smartest and most mischievous of the litter and we couldn’t help ourselves. She is certainly undeniably cute, but is also a real turd. She is very fluffy but also pretty shy, so probably she won’t let you get too close. But you are welcome to try!
Last but not least, is Kitty. Kitty is around 10 years old. We got her as a kitten from a neighbor whose barn cat had kittens. We wanted to name her something more creative, as we actually had another cat at the time that we mostly called Kitty. However, we spent 3 days arguing about a name the whole family could agree on. During that time we just called her Kitty and the name stuck. She is the sweetest cat we have and you will probably see her asleep on your porch at some point. She has a very nice meow and likes to talk. She will definitely let you pet her and cuddle if you want.
